Leading vocational hair and beauty awarding body, VTCT has successfully signed a five-year partnership with the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) to support learners involved in sport and help raise awareness of the Sports and Active Leisure and Sports Therapies qualifications also offered by VTCT.
As a token of its commitment to sport, VTCT will sponsor the men’s and women’s leagues and from the 2010-11 season, and they will be named “the VTCT leagues”.
ECFA players complement their football development programmes with academic qualifications such as A Levels or a wide range of relevant vocational qualifications. The leagues, whilst mainly comprised of English-based colleges, also include a significant and growing number of Welsh Colleges.
VTCT already has strong links with the ECFA, since Sports Senior Verifier David Edge serves as physio for the English College men’s National team and Sports EV Vicky Thomas is his counterpart for its England Women’s team.
The agreement was signed between VTCT Chief Executive, Dr Stephen Vickers and Dave Crook, ECFA’s Treasurer in the presence of Brian Bowker, ECFA’s Chairman, Nic Robinson, VTCT’s Director of Business Development, and Sports Senior Verifier David Edge. Stephen Vickers said; “the five-year period of the agreement is a sign of VTCT’s strong commitment to sports-related education in general and college football in particular.” Dave Crook replied; “The ECFA welcomes VTCT’s commitment to assist both the extension of high quality football provision for the 16-19 sector and the extension of its portfolio of vocational qualifications that would benefit both industry and students.”
