Trafford College opened the doors to its £25 million new build this weekend with a community festival, attracting huge crowds with a celebratory day of entertainment.
Trafford College’s ‘Future Fest’ took place at the new-look Altrincham Campus on Saturday 18 June with over 1500 people in attendance.
Visitors were entertained with music performances on the Key 103 Music Stage from the College’s music students, a big wheel and face painting to keep the children entertained while their parents could enrol for part-time adult courses starting in September. Students who will join the College in the next academic year were also given a taste of student life, with an insight into their new courses. Local Hollyoaks soap stars Gemma Merna (aka ‘Carmel McQueen’) and Kieron Richardson (aka ‘Ste Hay’) attended the event to meet and greet some lucky visitors, and supported the opening presentation with College Principal Sir Bill Moorcroft (pictured). The fun was rounded off with a performance from up and coming pop dance group Six D, who performed their new single ‘Best Damn Night’ along with other hits.
Sir Bill Moorcroft, College Principal, said: “We are very proud of the new facility, and I am proud to open the College new build, which supports learners of all ages to develop new skills in an inspirational and innovative environment. The work at the College has been undertaken over a number of years, and it is a great honour to finally see the plans come to fruition”.
