A 23-year-old Lowestoft College student said goodbye to his hair when he has his head shaved for charity.

Damien Woodward, who lives in Bury St Edmunds, was roped in to the challenge by fellow Access to Health and Life Science student Kirstie Maguire and hopes to raise around £750. Damien said: “Around Christmas time I made a comment in class one day that I was getting fed up with my hair and would shave it off. Kirstie heard and thought it would be a good fundraising opportunity.”

Damien, who has been growing his hair for the last two to three years, decided to take up the challenge and has even grown a beard which will also be shaved off. And, wanting his hair to be put to good use, Damien is now also looking into donating it to charity to help those who have lost their hair.

The money raised from the event will be donated to Megan’s World, which helps those who have lost babies due to stillbirth and parents of stillborn babies who are unable to provide burial plots and head stones due to financial costs, a charity Kirstie became aware of as a result of Born With Wings, a non-profit organisation she founded to offer support to those who have lost babies.
