Melanie Hunt, Principal and Chief Executive of Sussex Downs College went back in the classroom in a have-a-go session in motor vehicle mechanics and body repair workshops on the Eastbourne campus last week.

Melanie said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions that I attended, and was very impressed with the students and apprentices that I met.  They were all unfailingly polite, willing to chat and were excellent instructors – telling me exactly what I should and shouldn’t do!” 


Sussex Downs College offers over 40 apprenticeship frameworks including:

Accountancy, Business Administration, Childcare, Construction (including brickwork, carpentry, construction operations, electrical installation, highways maintenance, painting & decorating, plumbing) Creative (including technical theatre, cultural heritage, live events, music business, community arts), Customer Service, Distribution & Warehousing, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Hospitality & Catering (food & beverage service, food preparation & cooking, front office, hospitality supervision, housekeeping, kitchen services, professional cookery) Management, Motor Vehicle Engineering (maintenance & repair, body & paint operations) Retail,  Supporting Teaching & Learning, Team Leading.
