High Fliers enjoy  Thomas Cook experience

Two talented Aviation students, 18 year old Danielle Myers, from Fearnhead, and 19 year old Charlotte Daniels, from Stockton Heath, enjoyed the trip of a life-time.  As part of their work experience with Thomas Cook at Manchester Airport, Charlotte and Danielle joined the cabin crew when Thomas Cook Airlines flew to the popular Greek resort of Skiathos.

Danielle says, “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, I was so thrilled to be selected as one of the top students on the Aviation course at Warrington Collegiate. We were able to experience a behind the scenes view of the airport and to find out about the vast range of careers on offer after completion of the course.”

Echoing her words, Charlotte added, “The 3 hour flight was amazing, we were able to help set up the trolleys for meals and duty free as well as visit the cockpit and talk to the crew.”

The students experienced all aspects of the airline industry from the flight deck to the landside facilities, including check-in, the crew room and visiting the different types of aircraft used by Thomas Cook. They took part in a fire drill and got to grips with airport security, a very important part of the training undertaken by Thomas Cook Group employees.

Charlotte and Danielle were given lanyards, badges, notebooks, pens, amenity kits and brochures by the Thomas Cook Group as mementoes of their fantastic five days with one of the leading companies in the airline industry.

Diane Lewis, Lecturer in Aviation at Warrington Collegiate who visited the students said, "It was a great opportunity for the students to experience the airline industry at its best.  Both students are passionate and enthusiastic about aviation and thoroughly enjoyed the week’s events finding it educational and extremely useful in supporting their career choices."

Danielle adds, “I was really inspired by the experience and want to make sure I gain top marks in order to secure my dream job and see the world.”
