Almost a third more students from Barnfield College, Luton entered higher education this year, according to new figures released by the Universities & Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
A total of 246 Barnfield students progressed to local and national higher education courses this year.
This is an impressive increase of 32 per cent on last year and is the highest that Barnfield College, the largest college in Bedfordshire, has achieved since UCAS statistical reporting began.
In 2005, the figure was 177 students.
Pete Birkett, Barnfield’s Chief Executive, said: “It is very pleasing to see an increasing number of students from Barnfield taking the vocational route to further study. Students now realise that degrees, either vocational or academic, will equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for when the economy picks up. Barnfield is proud to be helping young people further their careers and securing their future.”
