The College of Haringey, Enfield and North London’s Employer Survey 2015 found overwhelmingly positive results about the service the employers are receiving, as well as the high value in which they hold the quality of apprentices that the College provides.
CONEL contacted 120 employers in December 2015 and is using the feedback gathered to improve and expand services to meet employers’ needs and to celebrate the successes the survey revealed. Almost 90% of the employers who took part in the survey want to develop their businesses by employing apprentices.
Some headline results from the Survey showed that 60% of apprenticeship vacancies were filled within 1 month and 97% within 2 months. Employers were impressed by the quality of communication and information from the College. Employers said College staff were easy to work with, had very good knowledge were responsive and rated us as 9 out of 10 overall.
Employers were very impressed with their Apprentices and most said they will offer a permanent position to their Apprentices at the end of the Apprenticeship. Employers also found that their business hugely benefitted by having Apprentices with examples of increased revenue, efficiency gains and widening the skills base of the staff overall. Some even found that Apprentices brought new skills to the business from their training at the College.
8 out of 10 employers said training at the College was of an “excellent” standard and their business had benefitted greatly from training the Apprentice has had.
The survey showed employers equally invested heavily in Apprentices “on the job” training with up to 10 hours a week in the workplace. This shows the huge commitment of employers to their Apprentices and the recognition that Apprentices and their workforce are key to their success.
Director of Employability and Employer Engagement, Jackie Chapman said: “I was delighted to see the results of the survey because it was really helpful for employers to give us feedback about their needs and to endorse the quality of our work and our apprentices.”
From the results, one employer who completed the survey was randomly selected to win a luxury hamper containing delicious cheeses and a range of seasonal delicacies. The presentation was made in December to lucky winner Kil Mustafa, Business Manager for Stamford Hill School.
