Dedicated Southampton City College employee named learner of the month by Enham

A DEDICATED Southampton City College employee has been commended by Hampshire charity, Enham.

Enham, which provides a number of services to help people with disabilities, has named Vijay Chopra as its 'Learner of the Month'. More than 30 people were nominated for the award in October alone but Vijay stood out because of the hard work he had put in.

The 26-year-old is taking part in Enham's Workstep programme, which assists those who are recovering from a long-term illness or who have a disability and want employment. It can provide the practical help, information, advice and guidance people need to find suitable work together with additional, ongoing ‘in-work’ support.

Vijay, who has worked at City College for three years, has recently completed his NVQ Level 3 in Library and Information Services and has just started a degree in librarianship. He said: “I'm really pleased to be given this award by Enham and value both their support and that of City College.”

Vijay was presented with the certificate by Michael Steel, Enham’s Partnership Liaison Manager, who said: “Enham’s Learner of the Month award recognises individuals such as Vijay who go above and beyond in reaching their goals.”

Lynda Walsh, a development advisor for Enham’s centre in Southampton, nominated Vijay for the award. She said: “Vijay is well supported at the college, especially with the way he has implemented the training he has learnt within his job role.”
