Cornwall County Council: Centralising approach to LMI and Careers Advice in Schools

Active Informatics are delighted to announce that Cornwall County Council has renewed its license for Labour/Insight. They have also decided to purchase the Careers Explorer LMI application on behalf of secondary schools in Cornwall to promote usage of labour market intelligence for impartial and evidence based careers advice.

Labour/Insight for economic development

Cornwall County Council has been using Labour/Insight since 2013 as a source of real-time skills and labour market intelligence. They have in that time, used the unique real-time insights provided by Labour/Insight for several major projects. They also publish two monthly reports on their website, called “Economy Monthly Monitoring Update (EMMU) “and “Labour Market Analysis”.

Using Careers Explorer

Cornwall County Council now combines Labour/Insights’ real-time skills data with the Careers Explorer LMI application, to support delivery of careers advice in secondary schools across Cornwall. Secondary schools can access Careers Explorer to assist school careers advisers and to match learners’ skills and interests to next steps in education across the county and the availability of regional jobs and apprenticeships.

About Labour/Insight and Careers Explorer

Labour/Insight is the only real-time vacancy data analysis tool available in the UK. Labour/Insight tracks the ever changing national, regional and local skills and labour markets with all data taken direct from UK employers.

Careers Explorer is a careers LMI tool that links information about UK occupations, current and predicted regional demand for jobs, required levels of education as well as the related job vacancies, apprenticeships and regional educational options.
