College continues to work with Momentum Services to recognise its high Customer Service promise on Eurostar

 

 

Another milestone completed for Momentum Services training.

Sussex Downs College is proud to continue to work with Momentum Services Ltd, who provide Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train operator which links the UK and the continent, with a full on board and business lounge customer service and catering provision in London, Paris and Brussels.

Further success of recent training for Momentum Services has given a new insight to NVQs and apprenticeships; at the award ceremony in London, Frank Whittaker gave an inspiring speech to the latest 31 staff who had achieved their individual NVQ certificates in Customer Service and Team Leading.

Sophie Barlow opened the ceremony followed by Joanne Fowler from Sussex Downs College who spoke about how the current accessibility of NVQs and now particularly apprenticeships was an excellent development route for companies like Momentum to train the staff to meet the needs of today’s challenges in business and growth, focussing on how to enhance responsiveness to ever increasing customer expectations, in a highly competitive environment.

Joanne Fowler also praised the enthusiasm shown by all the learners to their dedication, determination and hard work to complete the courses chosen by the various teams in the company, stating: “Learners within Momentum are a pleasure to work with.” This was reflected also by the assessors from Sussex Downs College to the relationships built with their individual students building on relationships and looking forward to working in partnership in the future.

Mr Whittaker, Chairman of Momentum Services, underlined the importance of staff development and training, commenting on his own experiences on joining an apprenticeship scheme when he left full time education. He gave his personal inspiration to the advantages and rewards of the importance to gaining an apprenticeship to move him onwards in his career and aspirations in gaining the skills and knowledge to succeed.

After the certificates were presented by Mr Whittaker, the staff also shared their enthusiasm in developing their skills sets further within the company and are looking forward to the development in apprenticeships in their areas of expertise.

Sophie Barlow from Momentum is working with Sussex Downs in developing further opportunities and branching out the apprenticeships on offer, with possible new apprenticeships being advertised for new vacancies in the organisation’s Head Office at Kings Cross. Sophie stated: “This is an exciting time for us to look at developing apprenticeships in our company and we are looking to offer this to as many of our staff as possible.”
