A careers course has proved just the job for two members of staff at a Sandwell school who gained top qualifications to give advice and support.

Perryfields School support staff Tracey Hinkinson and Lauren Beardmore have each gained top marks in a City and Guilds qualification.

With support from a bespoke careers and advice service, provided by training experts BCTG, both Tracey and Lauren have been awarded Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Personal Development.

Iain Cole, from BCTG, ran the ten-month course, which now means both women are fully- qualified careers advisors.

Tracey Hinkinson said: “I have really enjoyed taking the time to reflect on my work in this structured and informative course and as a result of it I feel much more confident with my delivery of careers sessions. ”

Iain Cole added: “These days careers and post 16 advice for school leavers is a complex field and this course is designed to ensure staff are fully qualified to give the best possible support and guidance. We were able to tailor it to ensure Tracey and Lauren got the most out of it for the benefit of the students and sixth-formers at Perryfields.”

BCTG, based in Taylors Lane, Oldbury, provides expert advice, courses and training services to suit the needs of young people, schools, training providers and employers.
