Swindon College’s Beauty students have been treating local charities to some well-deserved indulgence. Staff and service users from Threshold Housing Link, a charity working with Swindon’s homeless community, and Oxfam employees visited the College’s Equilibrium Salon in January for treatments such as facials and pedicures, carried out by the Level 1 Beauty Therapy students.
Becs Croce, Manager of Oxfam in Swindon, attended the day and said:
“It’s great to give my staff a bit of pampering as a thank you for their hard work. The treatments are so relaxing and the students have been absolutely wonderful.”
Carrie Hall, a student on the Level 1 Beauty Therapy course, said:
“Being able to help local charities is very rewarding. It’s great to be able to give the staff a bit of a treat whilst improving our techniques, knowledge of treatments and customer service.”
Kelly Reynolds, a Beauty Therapy Lecturer at the College, said:
“Working with these charities has been fantastic, and both they and the students have had a great time. It’s important for the students to recognise the positive contribution they can make towards the community they live in. We hope to run many more pamper days in the future and continue to support local charities.”
