I am a A1 qualified assessor and my background is in policing. Having retired from the police I have tried to continue with assessing but trying to convince employers that my skills can be related to other subjects is virtually impossible. I have had a little bit of work assessing taxi drivers but even though I have done this others will not take me on because I haven't been a taxi driver. Its the same with security, although I have a lot of the basic skills involved and have previously in the police assessed nearly the same units because i haven't been a security guard companies wont employ me.

Hey, thanks. Any chance of getting it onto FE press releases on the Home Page and not just on community?

Hello Gavin
Thanks for the call and compliment. I attached the image as a test but my machine at work will not display anything except text, so I never actually saw the effect. Credit must go to Microsoft, it's one of their sample pics!
I have been described as a teacher of "Engineering Academics", a phrase coined by a colleague to describe in one term what we do. I teach fundamental and applied mathematics, electrical and electronic principles and engineering system characteristics to engineering apprentices. in a form of "cradle-to-graduation" training. Seems to work.

Regards, Allan
