Is FE drifting into an iceberg with the LSC to Local Authority changes?

The clock is ticking with the changes of funding from LSC to Local Authorities. David Grailey, Chief Exec of NCFE has written a really interesting article on FE News and has raised the question of whether FE is being a bit of a Titanic drifting into this situation when the Machinery of Government if changing, the funding is changing - it will certainly be a time of great change and probably great distruption.... but surely the FE sector is unsinkable???

Check out David's article: www.fenews.co.uk/content/view/8652/144/

What do you think will happen with the changes? Will it be plain sailing or are we going to hit an iceberg?

I must admit, I rarely pay atention to funding streams. What concerns me more id the new curricula which will be on offer come 2011. I am far from confident that it will prepare our young and life long learners for work never mind an advanced work force

Hi Aine

Thanks for your comments. What part of the curriculum in particular?

I am off to the Federation of Awarding Bodies conference later this week, I'm going to be interviewing quite a few high profile people from Awarding Bodies. Anything you want to have asked? (doesn't mean they will answer it - but you never know)?

Speak to you soon

Kind Regards

Gavin
