This seminar will look at the future training and development of the teaching workforce. Sessions will examine the impact of the recently announced ‘Licence to teach’ on the profession, and debate whether teaching should become a masters profession as the first cohort of newly qualified teachers become eligible for the Masters in Teaching and Learning this year. The seminar will also look at the future recruitment of teachers, analyse how graduates can continue to be attracted into the profession, examine how teacher’s continual professional development can be ensured and debate how teachers should be held to account.
